Book of Sound
My “book” is more of an experience, rather than a piece of literature that you’d find in a library or scribbled on a coffee-stained napkin. It is based on its overall aesthetic and connection to all of our body’s senses. As you sit in front of it, (preferably with your eye level about 3/4 of the way up the pages, and in a dark/dimly light room) the experience begins with pulling the golden ball-chain, turning on the light bulb before you. Allow the bulb to really warm up a bit while you take a moment to soak in what has just been illuminated. This will begin to warm the wood and you as well if your close enough. The gold shapes before you are a physical representation of the sound waves of my voice reciting a poem, line by line, that I wrote (*the page index of which will be at the bottom of this page). It begins with the title page and first line of the poem. There are also page numbers at the bottom of each page in case you get lost.
As you turn through the pages, indulge yourself in the smell of the warm wood, the sound of the wheels squeaking and the wood creaking, the feel of their smooth complexion as it passes in front of your face, noticing the moment of darkness when you are separated from the light. There is no clear beginning or end to my book, much like my perception of our being here in this life. Rather, it continues on and we are faced with the same questions as before, with only ourselves to answer them. Once our answers become so consistent that they become our absolute truth, our law, we can then know nirvana.
